As part of the Fruehauf NZ Ltd Group, Adams & Currie is proudly New Zealand owned and operated, supported by extensive experience and expertise in truck trailers and truck body solutions for the transport industry.
Through Jeff’s involvement with the National Road Carriers Association, we maintain a strong understanding of the industry’s regulatory requirements, competitive environment, and commercial realities—ensuring we continue to deliver practical, informed solutions for our customers.
Jeff Mear
Managing Director
Jeff brings more than 34 years of experience in the road transport industry, with a deep understanding of trailer design and customer requirements. He began his career as Sales and Marketing Manager at Roadmaster, where he played a key role in working alongside small, medium, and large fleet operators.
During his time at Roadmaster, Jeff was heavily involved in the design and development of transport solutions, gaining valuable hands-on experience in vehicle design, fleet performance, and the practical demands of real-world operations. This foundation has shaped his customer-focused and solutions-driven approach.
In August 2009, Jeff purchased Fruehauf NZ Limited, becoming sole owner in 2022. Under his leadership, the business has continued to evolve through a strong focus on innovation, engineering excellence, and customer value.
In March 2024, Adams & Currie entered a new chapter, with ownership transitioning to Jeff and Yvette Mear under the Fruehauf New Zealand group. This has strengthened alignment across the businesses and reinforced a shared commitment to quality and performance.
Jeff has been instrumental in advancing product design and functionality, including the development of innovative solutions such as the chicken trailer and enhancements to walking floor technology, improving efficiency and usability for customers.
He remains passionate about practical innovation, building strong teams, and delivering high-quality engineering solutions that keep the business at the forefront of the industry.
Jon Doyle
General Manager
As General Manager at Adams & Currie, Jon oversees operations across the South Island, ensuring the business delivers consistent performance, strong customer outcomes, and operational excellence.
Jon is passionate about building long-term relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry partners, recognising that trust is earned through delivering results. He takes great pride in fostering partnerships that are built on reliability, transparency, and mutual success.
A strong people leader, Jon is committed to supporting his team to grow into high-performing leaders, creating an environment where individuals are empowered to give their best every day. His leadership style is hands-on and detail-focused, with a clear emphasis on accountability, continuous improvement, and achieving results.
With a proven track record across civil construction, road transport, manufacturing, and the rural sectors, Jon brings extensive experience in sales, marketing, and operational leadership. He has successfully led high-performing teams, developed strategic growth plans, and managed key commercial negotiations to drive business success.
Jon thrives in fast-paced environments and is dedicated to delivering practical outcomes that strengthen both team performance and long-term business growth.
Kurtis Emtage-McIntyre
Design Engineer
Kurtis is a Mechanical Engineer and Manufacturing Certifier, specialising in heavy vehicle development and certification.
With over a decade of experience in heavy vehicle manufacturing, Kurtis works across the full lifecycle of vehicle development—from initial concept through to detailed design and NZTA certification. His broad expertise ensures that designs are not only innovative, but also practical, compliant, and ready for production.
Kurtis has been involved in a range of advanced projects, including hydrogen vehicle system development, electric vehicle integration, and the establishment of inspection and quality management systems.
He is passionate about alternative fuel technologies and takes a solutions-focused approach to engineering, delivering efficient, compliant, and forward-thinking designs that meet the evolving needs of the transport industry.
Simon Turner
Production Supervisor
Simon began his career in civil engineering, building a strong foundation in structural fabrication and site operations. He later transitioned into working with pressure vessels and heat exchangers, where he supervised fabrication teams and supported staff to consistently deliver high-quality, precise work. These early experiences shaped his leadership style—steady, honest, and focused on practical solutions.
Simon joined Adams & Currie over 12 years ago, spending many years on the tools mastering the fundamentals of the company’s trusted truck body designs. This hands-on experience has given him a deep understanding of how products are built and why they are highly regarded within New Zealand’s road transport industry.
Known for his practical mindset, Simon works closely with customers to develop effective, fit-for-purpose solutions, often thinking beyond conventional approaches to meet specific operational needs.
Over the past two years, Simon has been part of the Christchurch branch under Fruehauf’s national presence in New Zealand. This has allowed him to further expand his knowledge, including exposure to internationally recognised standards through Schmitz Cargobull.
Now in his role as Production Supervisor, Simon works closely with both customers and his team to bring ideas to life. He values clear and honest communication and is committed to delivering durable, practical solutions that achieve the best possible outcomes for every customer.
Brendon Parkes
Refrigeration Technician
Brendon is an experienced transport refrigeration specialist with over 18 years in the industry, bringing extensive technical knowledge and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality service. Throughout his career, he has developed a broad skill set across refrigeration systems, heavy vehicles, and a wide range of mechanical equipment.
He began his career with Airtemp Industries in Nelson, where he spent eight years building a strong technical foundation in transport refrigeration and mechanical servicing. During this time, Brendon gained valuable hands-on experience working with Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration units, while also servicing a wide range of vehicles and machinery including trucks, buses, forestry equipment, excavators, cars, and agricultural tractors. This early exposure across multiple industries helped develop his strong diagnostic capabilities and practical problem-solving skills.
Brendon later relocated to Christchurch, where he continued to grow his expertise with Thermo King over a seven-year period. During this time, he further refined his skills in refrigeration systems and refrigerated transport servicing, building a reputation for reliability, efficiency, and strong technical capability.
Eager to broaden his experience with Carrier refrigeration systems, Brendon then joined Transcold, where he spent two and a half years strengthening his expertise with Carrier units and expanding his knowledge of transport refrigeration technology.
In 2025, Brendon joined Fruehauf to establish and manage the Christchurch branch of Adams & Currie’s Fruehauf Refrigerated Service and Repair division. In this role, he is responsible for helping establish operations while delivering high standards of service, maintenance, and technical support for refrigerated transport equipment and telematics systems.
Known for his dedication, strong work ethic, and passion for the industry, Brendon takes pride in delivering dependable service and building lasting relationships with clients, colleagues, and industry partners. Outside of work, Brendon enjoys spending time with family and relaxing with PC gaming.
Megan Ryan
Branch Administration
Megan has been a valued member of the Adams & Currie team for over 11 years, providing essential administration and operational support across the business. She plays a key role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the branch, supporting both the team and customers with efficiency and a positive approach.
Prior to joining Adams & Currie, Megan spent 23 years in the rental car industry, beginning her career in Sydney. Working in a fast-paced environment, she developed strong customer service, organisational, and problem-solving skills, which she continues to bring to her role today.
Megan is known for her reliability, attention to detail, and ability to keep operations running seamlessly while maintaining a supportive and approachable presence within the team.
Mark Oosthuizen
Inventory Coordinator
Mark is the Inventory Coordinator at Adams & Currie, bringing over 30 years of warehousing experience across the food manufacturing and transport manufacturing industries.
Previously based in Auckland with Fruehauf NZ Limited, Mark joined the Adams & Currie team two years ago, further strengthening inventory management across the group. His extensive experience and practical approach ensure efficient stock control and reliable supply to support both workshop operations and customer needs.
Mark takes great pride in maintaining well-organised inventory systems and understands the importance of having the right parts available at the right time. With a strong focus on accuracy and customer service, he plays a key role in keeping operations running smoothly.
He is committed to delivering dependable support and ensuring customers and the team have access to the stock they need, when they need it.
Jay Coppen
Leading Hand Fabrication / QC / Hydraulics
Jay joined Adams & Currie in January 2008 and has grown alongside the business ever since. Starting on the tools as a welder, he progressed into a Leading Hand role through his strong work ethic, technical skill, and commitment to quality.
Over the years, Jay has developed specialist expertise in lifting tag installations and wheelbase extensions, working on complex projects that require precision, problem-solving, and a strong focus on safety and compliance. He takes pride in delivering work that meets both engineering standards and customer expectations.
Prior to joining Adams & Currie, Jay gained valuable experience fabricating gates and playground equipment, building a solid foundation in craftsmanship and attention to detail that continues to underpin his work today.
In his current role, Jay is committed to delivering reliable, high-quality outcomes while supporting his team to perform at their best, ensuring consistent results across all projects.
L J Manson
Leading Hand Fabrication
LJ is a hands-on Leading Hand at Adams & Currie, known for his practical approach and willingness to lead from the front. With extensive experience across the engineering industry, he has worked in heavy and light fabrication, civil projects, transport, and fleet repairs, building a well-rounded and highly capable skill set.
Before stepping into his current role, LJ worked as a team leader in health and safety, where he was responsible for coordinating crews and ensuring jobs ran smoothly and safely. His experience spans a wide range of projects, including bridge and road construction, heavy transport repairs, and fleet maintenance, as well as working closely with mechanics on WOF and COF standard jobs.
LJ has also spent time in truck and trailer parts sales, strengthening his communication skills and giving him valuable insight into both workshop operations and customer needs.
A steady and reliable leader, LJ is dedicated to keeping teams aligned and projects moving efficiently. He is known for his approachable nature, strong work ethic, and commitment to supporting his team to deliver quality outcomes every time.
Paul de Winter
Leading Hand Service & Repairs
Paul brings over 47 years of experience as a mechanic, with a wealth of hands-on knowledge and a strong commitment to quality workmanship. He takes pride in doing the job properly and ensuring equipment and machinery are maintained to the highest standard.
Holding HT, WTR, and forklift licences, Paul has worked across a wide range of equipment and environments throughout his career, giving him a well-rounded and practical skill set.
As Leading Hand in Service & Repairs, Paul plays a key role in supporting the team and delivering reliable, high-quality outcomes for customers. His experience, work ethic, and attention to detail make him a trusted and valued member of the business.
Outside of work, Paul enjoys life on his lifestyle block where he keeps cattle, and values time spent with his wife, children, and grandson..
James Hamilton
Leading Hand Welding and Fabrication
Hi, I’m James. I’ve been with Adams & Currie for six years, steadily building my career and honing my skills in welding and fabrication. I started out on the family farm before transitioning into engineering—a move I’ve never looked back from.
Beginning on the workshop floor, I’ve worked my way up to a Leading Hand role, gaining hands-on experience and a deep understanding of the trade. I completed my apprenticeship through Ara Institute of Canterbury and am now trade certified in heavy fabrication and welding. I also hold a Class 5 HT license for trucks and trailers, which gives me added versatility on the job.
